Responsibilities
Assists the Healthcare Administrator in leading the day-to-day operations of a skilled nursing facility in accordance with current federal, state, and local laws, regulations and guidelines.
Provides leadership to assist the Healthcare Administrator in ensuring care standards are met and the highest degree of quality resident care is provided at all times during day to day operations.Ensures residents receive adequate care and treatment including, but not limited to, ADLs, showers, treatments, medication management, meal service, and individualized care r/t their care plan.Ensures residents receive their highest practical level from therapy- PT/OT/ST and/or restorative services if applicable.At the designation of the HCA, supervises department directors to ensure competency and compliance of manager duties. Participates in the recruitment of personnel by engaging in the interview process of potential hires designated by the HCA.Delegates appropriate operational responsibility for delivery of services and performance of administrative requirements to other staff personnel, as deemed necessary, to perform their assigned duties.In collaboration with the Healthcare Administrator, reviews community policies and procedures and makes changes as necessary to ensure continued compliance with current regulations.Assists in developing and implementing appropriate plans of action to correct identified quality deficiencies.Performs regular rounds and inspections of the community.Participates in facility surveys (inspections) performed by government agencies and develops any necessary plans of correction for deficiencies.Maintains professional relationships with community personnel, residents and their family members.Engages in positive community relations that serve the best interest of the community.Serves on various community committees (e.g., Infection Control, Quality Assurance & Assessment, etc.).Attends meetings and is an active partner within the community’s market.

QualificationsEducation and Experience
A Bachelor’s degree in Health Care Administration, Public Health Administration, Business Administration, Nursing, a Therapy Discipline or other health care-related degree is required. Mid-level management experience
Certifications, Licenses, and Other Special Requirements
Must comply with state approved Administrator-In-Training (AIT) requirements. Must apply, and be accepted, in a state approved AIT program within 12 to 18 months of hire.
Management/Decision Making
Applies existing guidelines and procedures to make varied decisions within a department. Uses sound judgment and experience to solve moderately complex problems based on precedent, example, reasonableness or a combination of these. Uses some independent judgment to solve problems while overseeing a functional department.
Knowledge and Skills
Thorough knowledge of federal, state and local laws, regulations and guidelines that pertain to skilled nursing facilities. Must possess the ability to make independent decision when circumstances warrant such action. Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public. Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long-term care. Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.
