Assistant Lab Animal Tech Laboratory Columbus, OH, US Pay Rate Low: 23 | Pay Rate High: 25 + Added - 25/10/2024 Apply for Job **The Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician will collaborate with the Vivarium team to support animal welfare within the Genetic Therapies Center of Excellence. They will work under guidance of the Senior Veterinary Technicians to perform treatments and rodent care as required for study and colony management.** **Primary Responsibilities Include:** • Assist in monitoring and performing basic treatments within the animal facility • Perform body weights • Perform rodent exams and detailed clinical observations • Receive incoming animals and place microchips • Perform blood processing • Serve as a back-up for weaning and limited necropsy • Communicate regularly with lead study technicians and functional area leads • Maintain appropriate record keeping per GLP and animal welfare guidelines • QC job related tasks • Operate equipment and use supplies according to safety guidelines • Perform all other related duties as assigned • Work on rotating weekend/holiday schedule **Desired Skills and Education:** • ALAT certification strongly preferred or achieve certification status within 1 year • 0-2 years of related experience in laboratory animal field • High School diploma or equivalent • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds • Dexterity of physical condition to operate all job duties; lift and move objects regularly throughout the shift. • Work in a standing position requiring bending and stretching of arms and legs throughout regular work shift. • Must avoid contact with rodent species outside of work.
