The Assistant Lead Clinician (ALC) is responsible for providing oversight of mental health screening and counseling intervention services, as well as continually monitoring and documenting children’ mental well-being and overall adjustment to the program in collaboration with the Lead Clinician. The functions are performed as part of a multi-disciplinary team and include development and implementation of minor service plans, facilitating referrals, transfers, and reunification planning. All duties will be performed based on education, training and certified counseling experience within mental health and social service field. The Assistant Lead Clinician is subject to work extended hours and weekends, and to be on-call.
Essential Functions: Coordinate clinical services by providing oversight, and training of staff clinicians, monitoring clinical services documentation, and developing and maintaining ongoing partnerships with community-based providersSupport Clinicians by conducting intake, admission, and screenings with children, and document results according to SWK standards as neededCollaborate with Lead Clinician on consulting for possible referral to external focused interventions, outpatient or inpatient services. Collaborate with treatment team members and children to develop treatment plansFacilitate educational and groups counseling sessions as neededContinually monitor the well-being of children and arrange for appropriate third-party mental health services as neededProvide consultation and documentation regarding children’ functioning, mental health status, and treatment needsProvide clinical services within Southwest Key, in accordance with licensing, and funding source guidelinesParticipate in and comply with all meetings, assignments, process improvement, and quality improvement initiatives as assigned by supervisor Other Functions: Attend all organizational required trainings.Attend all departmental and program meetings to ensure that up-to-date information is received and/or information of policy changes or practice are adhered to.Assist in the evacuation of youth as needed due to inclement weather conditions, natural disasters, or other unforeseen occurrences.Travel as needed for trainings, conferences or to transport youth to destinations located within the S.Maintain a safe, clean and hazard-free work area. Ensure the proper supervision of youth at all times.Respond to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned. Qualifications and Requirements:These requirements may be waived with written approval from the ORR Project Officer
Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) and 5 years of full-time direct service delivery experience OR A Master’s Degree in Psychology, Counseling, or other relevant behavioral science field in which clinical training and experience is a program requirementHolds Associate or Independent license in the state to provide mental health diagnostic assessment and treatment.For Texas: LMFT-A/LMFT, LPC-A/LPC, LMSW/LCSW, and Associate Psychologist/Psychologist.[1]Two years of postgraduate direct service delivery experience conducting clinical interviewing and assessment, as well as individual and group counseling.Experience working with children, youth, and/or families.Successful completion of 86 hours of pre-service training and job shadowing.Required to work a flexible schedule to facilitate program services.Cleared Tuberculosis test results.Cleared background check from appropriate entity.Cleared drug test results. (Texas programs only)Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing.Compliance with annual requirement of 50 training hours as mandated by SWK, ORR, and state licensing standards Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writingMust be at least 21 years of age at time of hire.Preferred
Experience working with children and youth in inpatient, residential, or detention facilities.Experience working with undocumented children and/or refugees Physical Demands:Must be able to obtain Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification and First Aid Certification (CPR). Must be able to supervise children indoors and outdoors as necessary. Bending, stooping and lifting up to 15 lbs required to complete daily tasks.
Work Environment:This is a twenty-four-hour residential facility at which children receive multiple services. It requires three shifts to cover each twenty-four-hour period which are subject to change. Noise level varies from mild to moderate. Predominantly indoors, occasional outdoor monitoring or activities.
