Job Summary
The Assistant Maintenance Manager at Morton Bahamas Limited oversees the maintenance and repair of equipment and facilities to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the Solar plant. The Manager will also assist the maintenance manager in planning, coordinating, and managing all maintenance activities within the solar salt plant to ensure equipment reliability and plant efficiency. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems and heavy equipment, as well as experience in industrial maintenance practices.
Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and Morton policies. Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify and mitigate risks. Develop and implement a comprehensive preventive maintenance program for all plant equipment and facilities. Schedule and coordinate maintenance activities to minimize downtime and ensure operational continuity. Lead, train, and supervise a team of maintenance technicians and contractors. Assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure maintenance work is completed safely and effectively. Oversee the maintenance and repair of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems in the salt production process. Troubleshoot and resolve equipment malfunctions and breakdowns promptly. Manage the maintenance budget, track expenditures, and identify cost-saving opportunities. Ensure cost-effective procurement of spare parts and maintenance supplies. Maintain an inventory of spare parts, tools, and equipment necessary for maintenance activities. Ensure timely replenishment of critical spare parts to prevent production delays. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment history, and repairs. Prepare regular reports on maintenance performance, costs, and equipment reliability. Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in maintenance management. Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in maintenance technology.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (preferred). Proven experience as a Maintenance Manager in an industrial setting, preferably in a solar salt plant or similar environment. Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. Excellent leadership and team management skills. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities. Proficient in using maintenance management software and tools. Good understanding of safety regulations and compliance requirements. Excellent communication and organizational skills.Work Environment
This position requires knowledge and awareness of industrial sites. Protective gear will be required where appropriate. The role is primarily outdoors on the plant, which may involve exposure to varying temperatures, loud noises, and machinery. Addressing urgent production issues may require working outside regular business hours, including weekends and holidays. Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to push, pull, lift, and carry materials weighing up to 50 lbs. Ability to work in a hot, high-noise environment.
