Free passes for employees, employee discounted lift tickets for friends and family AND free ski lessons + MORE employee discounts on lodging, food, gear, and mountain shuttles + 401(k) Retirement Plan + Employee Assistance Program + Excellent training and professional development + Referral Program Full Time roles are eligible for the above, plus: + Health Insurance; Medical Insurance, Dental Insurance, and Vision Insurance plans (for eligible seasonal employees after working 500 hours) + Free ski passes for dependents + Critical Illness and Accident plans The Assistant Manager of Slopes & Trails is responsible for assisting the Manager of Mountain Operations in the oversight of all operations within the Slopes & Trails during the winter (October-April) and pivots to support and oversee the summer trail and sawyer crews (March-October) This includes budget oversight, all safety training and compliance, all departmental training and staffing for winter grooming team and summer trail crew and sawyer operations **Job Specifications:** + Housing: Not available + Outlet: Beaver Creek + Schedule & Shift Availability: Salaried Year-Round / Full-Time **Winter Job Responsibilities (October-April)** + Support the Mountain Ops Manager and Snow Surfaces Director as required by providing direction, leadership and expertise to the entire Beaver Creek snow cat operation. + Partner with the Mountain Ops to hire, train, schedule and supervise performance management/evaluations of all staff. + Receive guidance from the Mtn Ops leadership to understand, organize, and communicate the grooming priorities on the mountain that are dependent on the time of season with grooming supervisors and crews. This includes helping to develop and construct the daily Grooming Action Plan. + Attends any/all mountain operations meetings for a better understanding of the bigger picture in order to prioritize department needs, including filling in for Grooming Manager and Snow Surfaces Director as directed. + Help to create, manage, and share all required Microsoft and Google documents for the Slopes & Trails department. This includes Mountain Ops Drive, GAP, Grooming Report, EOS Evaluations, and compiling all Grooming Reports at the end of the season for a coherent picture of the season’s grooming efforts. + Support the vision of the department by navigating and analyzing all SNOWsat data with the goal of communicating these learnings to the crews to help drive change in efficiency, production, machine wear and fuel usage. + Maintain an excellent working relationship with all associated departments on Beaver Creek Mountain, especially Fleet Maintenance, Race, Snowmaking, Ski Patrol & Mountain Dining. Be comfortable working with outside contractors and agencies, i.e. USFS, CO 811, etc. + Partner with the Mountain Ops Manager to ensure compliance with all mandated company and department policies and procedures including safety guidelines. Understand VRI Company policies with regard to property loss, Workers Compensation, and VRI equipment operation. + Communicate all department related issues to the Mountain Ops Manager in a timely fashion as well as assist to maintain departmental oversight and budget. + Must be able ski/ride daily for up to 8 hours at a time, in all conditions. + Others duties as assigned including occasionally operating heavy equipment as required. **Summer Job Responsibilities (March-October)** + Supervises and organizes daily operations of the Sawyer Crew (4 team members) and Trail Crew (4-5 team members), including: hiring, training, scheduling, timecards, performance appraisals, employee recognition, discipline and terminations. + Oversees the Storm Water Management Plan for Beaver Creek Mountain. Assists mountain planning and external contractors in development and oversight of on mountain SWMP requirements and execution. + Oversees the Forest Health Plan for Beaver Creek Mountain. Coordinate program requirements with USFS. + Oversees the Wildland Fire Mitigation and on-mountain burning for Beaver Creek Mountain. Coordinate requirements with the USFS, Eagle County, local fire departments and internally. + Responsible for trail construction and trail maintenance, as well as restoration and re-vegetation of trails and disturbed areas. + Manages Timber removal and sales. Develop, manage, coordinate, and oversee all timber sale contracts with USFS. + Oversees Wetland creation and maintenance. + Manages explosive use and state/federal compliance for Beaver Creek operations. + Manages the Noxious Weed removal program. + Assists Director of Mountain Operations with developing Trails and Sawyer budgets. + Works closely with other managers to ensure compliance with VRI, state and federal regulations. + In conjunction with the Director of Mtn Ops, acts of BC Mountain Ops daily point of contact for USFS for all of the above operations. + Active member of the Mountain Ops management team: lead meetings, attend cross-VRI meetings and (when needed) represent other leaders and departments. + Other duties as assigned **Job Requirements:** + High School education or equivalent + Previous experience as a groomer, heavy equipment operator preferred. + Previous experience working in on a trail crew or chainsaw experience. + Previous knowledge of Beaver Creek Mountain preferred + 3-5 years supervising or managing staff preferred. + Valid driver's license required + Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Office, Excel, Peoplesoft) + Read, write, comprehend and speak English + Excellent communication skills. Must be able to communicate verbal directions over the radio. + Ability to work long hours in winter conditions, including weekends and holidays. + Expert skier or rider. The expected pay range is $56,485 - $73,830. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position.
