Assistant Manager

Summary of Position

The Assistant Manager role contributes to the success of Coffee Action West by assisting the Store Manager in executing store operations. The Assistant Manager aids the Store Manager by supervising team members to create and maintain an environment that promotes, role models, and upholds Coffee Action West’s guiding principles.

Primary Responsibilities

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

Display a “customer first” attitude through training and holding team members accountable for delivering great customer service.Plans, identifies, communicates, and delegates appropriate responsibilities and practices to team members to ensure a smooth flow during a shift.Maintains a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events and manages smooth transitions thereafter to keep the store operating to standard.Supports the manager in driving the implementation of company programs, by directly motivating the team, planning, ensuring training is met, and clearly communicating goals to the store team.Provides coaching, role modeling, mentoring, and direction to the team to take action and achieve operational goals. Reviews the store environment and key business indicators to identify problems, concerns and opportunities for improvement, and to achieve operational goals.Maintains regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.Supports the Store Manager in setting goals for the store, crew development. and organizational capability.Responds to immediate store needs by utilizing and understanding resources.Engages with the customers to understand customer needs and the needs of the community.Ensures adherence to legal and operational compliance requirements.Uses operational tools to plan and achieve operational excellence for the store.Uses all existing tools to monitor accurate and effective cash and inventory management.Challenges and inspires the team to achieve business results.Develops and maintains positive relationships with the store’s team by understanding and addressing individuals’ motivations, needs, and concerns.Supports the Store Manager by using existing tools to provide timely feedback, and follow up on goals and action plans.Uses effective management principles to create and maintain a successful team.Creates an environment where team members feel empowered, respected, and valued.

Required Skills

2+ years supervisory experienceExcellent communication skills, both verbal and writtenAbility to manage multiple departments at locationAbility to lead, motivate, and build efficient teamsAbility to work full-time along with flexible hours, including weekends and holidays (according to customer demand)SERV Safe Food Protection Handler Certification holder or willing to obtain certification within 30 days of employment where required by State, County or City law.Company Introduction
