Assistant Manager - Operations

Position Overview:

The Operations Assistant Manager oversees daily activities of team members, coach/develop their team, and manage their performance.  They are responsible for developing and maintaining a high level of employee engagement and morale. They conduct themselves in a manner that demonstrates respect for individual values.  They are accountable for all tasks performed within their area(s) of responsibility, ensuring KPI’s are met or exceeded. They are expected to execute Distribution operations within established turn times, guidelines, while adhering to operating procedures and meeting external controls. Responsible for monitoring departmental inventory and order flow to ensure Turn Times are met. Anticipate and tracks operational and tactical risks and providing strategic solutions.

Key Accountabilities:

Coach & Develop Staff - Support staff results by communicating job expectations and planning, monitoring, and appraising job results. Aids in developing, coordinating and enforcing systems, policies, procedures and productivity standards. 

Lead, direct and manage the performance of the team utilizing reporting tools and daily floor observations; provide ongoing feedback; foster employee growth and sustained improvement, while promoting our cultural values and building a culture of accountability. This includes but is not limited to productivity, accuracy, efficiency and adherence to SOP/Policy.  

Execution of Business – Assist Manager by performing related duties. Identifies strategic goals by gathering pertinent business, financial, service and operations information. Accomplishes organizational goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. 

Utilizing Six Sigma methodology, perform root cause analysis and work to resolve problems by recommending solutions.  Maintain effective internal and external controls over product flow and meet or exceed established goals and turn times.

Administrative duties include and is not limited to: Maintain departmental documentation, employee files and ensures internal SOP’s are updated and reviewed/revised as needed.

Health & Safety – Actively participate in providing a safe and healthy environment for the team, in accordance with (or beyond) governmental standards, as well as internal policies and procedures.  Provide immediate, specific, and constructive feedback to any employee who violate safety requirements or demonstrate unsafe work behavior.  

Required Qualifications:

College degree is required and/or equivalent experience. A minimum of 2-5 years in a supervisory or leadership position. Ability to work non-traditional working hours including night and weekend shifts. Leadership experience, strong interpersonal skills, and strong communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Distribution, logistics or warehousing knowledge. Lean or Six Sigma certification a plus.

Shift Details:

Monday-Friday 12:00pm-8:30pm
