Job Purpose

The Assistant Marketing Manager will support the Integrated Marketing Team in developing and implementing marketing and publicity plans to promote Disney’s franchises, brands, and studio’s theatrical releases.

The principal role of the Assistant Marketing Manager is to develop the right marketing materials for our franchises, brands and theatrical titles in China and coordinate/implement marketing campaigns. Design and implement publicity strategies that cultivate our relationships with media/KOL, engage our key target audience and boost brand awareness. The target is to continuously build the brand awareness and affinity of Disney franchises and brands in China and maximize the box office performance of each theatrical release.

This requires working closely with agencies and vendors, as well as Disney business units and other corporate functions, while constantly keeping abreast of the market landscape, trends, and development. 

Key Responsibilities

Implement long-term brand building strategies for Disney’s franchises and brandsDevelop annual plans for franchises and brands and implement key marketing activationsDevelop strategic marketing plans for theatrical releases and implement key marketing activationsLead the development of brand assets and marketing materials (print and av) for our brands and titles.Work with the US headquarter to conduct local creative researches to better understand the status of each franchise and brandMaximize the presence of franchises, brands and theatrical tiles on various media channels:Develop media relations strategy, seeking high-level placement / co-op in print, broadcast and social mediaDevelop media content calendar for both traditional and social media to consistently engage audience throughout promotion windowsDevelop local celebrity strategy, maximize celebrity engagement throughout multiple channels and touch pointsCultivate and maintain relationships with media and influential professionalsPlan PR events:Develop integrated plan for big scale events including talent tour, multi-city events, local premieres and other media facing activitiesAdvance all operational aspects of the events from pre-event planning, load in/out process, and most importantly the execution of the eventMaintaining a consistently high level of production and performance qualityBudget controllingIdentify, conceptualize, plan and manage special event strategies and activities independently and effectively (special events include but are not limited to consumer events, mall events, industry summits and road shows).Liaise with agencies/vendors/creative and production teams to develop detailed creative solutions and implement the event strategies and plans efficiently and effectively.Establish and maintain excellent relationships with strategic partners internally (Consumer products, Shanghai Disney Resort, Disney Media Distribution, Government Affairs and National Geographic) and maximize synergy opportunitiesProactively seek collaboration opportunities with streaming platforms covering variety shows and reality shows by leveraging Disney’s unparalleled storytelling heritageCollaborate with trade marketing and sales to strategize exhibitor relationships and implement themed in-theater activations, including but not limited to trade events, consumer screening events and loyalty programsDay-to-day management and coordination with agencies and vendors to ensure timely and satisfactory delivery of work.Effectively manage franchise budget and theatrical release budget.Prepare presentations to management team, Business Units, or other functional teams as required

Requirements

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in a leading university, local or foreign. Marketing/Advertising Management or Film Related degree a plus but not a must.

Experience:

Minimum 5 years work experience in marketing and publicity for leading multi-national company, 4A ad agency or entertainment related companyDemonstrate the ability to develop and implement marketing programs including TVC development, point-of-sale promotion, online activation as well as ability in media planning, research and execution.  A big edge will be given to candidate with strong digital marketing background.

Knowledge:

An organized, self-motivated manager with an eye for details who is able to successfully implement multiple initiatives, run multiple tasks simultaneously and drive results for the project.  The candidate must be a team player and is able to work with internal and external partners seamlessly. The successful candidate must be an avid movie fan.  He/she is expected to possess the following qualities:Strong planning and execution skills; experience in handling, planning and overseeing the execution of media plans. Communication skills: persuasive, passionate and effective skills in getting point across written and spoken forms.Problem solving skills: able to identify and resolve issues independently and communicate solutions effectivelyAnalytical skills: able to provide sound recommendations based on good understanding of the media and general business environment.Professionalism and integrity, a team player who can perform well under pressureGenuine passion for the film industry and marketing field work: candidate must be willing to roll up his/her sleeves and go above and beyond the call of duty when the job calls for it.

Core Skills:

Fluent spoken and written English and MandarinWell developed computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.; Mac knowledge a plus not a must)
