ASSISTANT MATERIALS MANAGER SUMMARY:
The Assistant Materials Manager is responsible for the plant activities related to the materials department such as: receiving, scheduling, storage, handling, and delivery processes.
ASSISTANT MATERIALS MANAGER RESPONSIBILITIES: Guide and develop Materials Planners and Materials supervisors. Monitor the scheduling of incoming raw material. Assists with establishing the department procedures which are consistent with established corporate policies and procedures. Ensures proper warehousing practices including FIFO and material flow to support production requirements while maintaining quality. Helps coordinates flow of materials or products. Responsible for monitoring and reporting of receipts, production, scrap, etc. to accurately maintain inventory levels. Works with suppliers to improve efficiency. Responsible for expediting incoming material as required. Enforces safety compliance by ensuring the proper training is given in OSHA mandated regulations. Understands and complies with all company policies and procedures, and enforces workers to follow all company policies and procedures. Monitors suppliers and commercial carriers to ensure that delivery schedules are consistently met and any error rectified on a timely basis. Arranges for disposal of surplus materials. Develops and implements visual inventory management systems on the production floor. Assists as required in resolving this disposition of substandard or rejected materials. Ensures supplies are delivered on time to provide uninterrupted production and shipment of finished goods. Utilizes and practices methods of continuous improvement.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree (BS or BA) with at least four years experience in an Automotive environment. Lead, motivate, and coach. Develop and maintain good employee relations and communications cross functionally. Excellent oral and written presentation skills. Ability to effectively communicate to a diverse audience (customers, suppliers, employees). Results oriented approach.
