Position Overview:

The assistant men’s hockey coach is responsible for assisting the head men’s hockey coach in all aspects of running a NCAA Division I men’s hockey program by developing and implementing training sessions, practices and game plans, educating and coaching student-athletes, and supporting student-athletes in their personal, academic and athletic development at Merrimack College. This position reports directly to the head men’s hockey coach and is responsible for assisting in all phases of the program in accordance with NCAA Division I, Hockey East, MAAC, and Merrimack College rules, regulations and policies.

Position Responsibilities:

Serve as the main contact for the Director of Hockey role. Coordinate all travel for the team Coordinate all meals for the team home and away Point of contact for the Coach Co. Bus company Supervise the Equipment staff and monitor the Equipment Budget Point of contact for Hockey East Point of contact for software companies (INSTAT, HUDL, Catapult) Track Class schedules and classroom performance Create the pre-scout of upcoming opponent Assist in all On Campus recruiting Assist staff on ice Assist Head Coach in all operations of the program both on and off the ice Recruiting through the use of our software Know by Christmas the top few players on each Atlantic, CCHA, and ECAC team Develop a CHL list. That will allow us to be first on players who may be eligible

 

Position Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university 1-2 years of previous coaching experience Knowledge of NCAA rules and intercollegiate athletics Knowledge of video editing and production Commitment to supporting the academic success and overall well-being of student- athletes Excellent interpersonal skills and strong verbal and written communication skills Excellent administrative and organizational skills including the ability to prioritize and complete tasks by established deadlines Collegiate hockey playing experience is preferred.
