Fairview Hospital’s 5 North Innovation Unit focuses on trialing, evaluating and developing best practices in Technology, Nursing, Interdisciplinary Care and Medicine. As Assistant Nurse Manager in this department, you will have various responsibilities, such as fulfilling administrative, clerical and practical tasks for the Nurse Manager. A caregiver in this position works rotating evenings/nights from 7:00PM - 7:30AM.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

Provide direction and support to the unit staff.Supervise admissions, conduct assessment of patient's needs and initiate nursing care plans.Evaluate and document patient progress.Facilitate the planning, implementation, development and evaluation of Nursing Programs, initiatives and objectives for the unit.Assist with the development and implementation of policies and procedures to insure efficient and effective delivery of health services in a unit.Serve as a liaison between the manager, staff and other areas within the organization.Identifies and resolves issues affecting the delivery of patient care services in a unit.Prepare schedule of work assignment assuring adequate coverage on all shifts.Participate in and support quality improvement projects, outcomes studies and research initiatives.Participate in department and committees as assigned.Assist in orienting new personnel, continuing education and in-service educational programs.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA)Graduate from an accredited school of Professional NursingBachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN)Two years of recent clinical nurse experience

Physical Requirements:

Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours. Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
