Assistant Operations Manager - Field

Job Summary:

With minimal direction, the Assistant Operations Manager - Field reports to the Division’s Operations Manager and will assist the Operations Manager in the oversight of the Division’s Field Operation.  The Assistant Operations Manager role is a hybrid role with much of the focus in the field on scheduled jobs auditing, inspecting, and troubleshooting.  

Other duties include developing the execution plan for large jobs and assisting the Project Manager with managing jobs; managing the fleet of Service Trucks and equipment; managing the Warehouse operation; and executing the Inventory Management protocol established by the Division Manager.   The Assistant Operations Manager – Field also assists the Operation Manager in leading the Service Department to grow while following the company’s policies and procedures.

Primary Responsibilities Include, but are not limited to, the following:

Performing quality inspections at selected new installation and service job sites, auditing the overall performance of the Service Technician(s) performing the work, and ensuring all work meets manufacturer and DuraServ standards. Assist the Operations Manager with oversight and management of subcontractors, including job site inspections and audits of workmanship and punch list completion.Inspect and Audit all Service Technicians’ performance to ensure compliance with safety regulations and requirements.Ensure a safe environment by monitoring the dock area and warehouse clearing all debris, stacking all inventory safely and appropriately, and storing all equipment properly.Utilize experienced technician support for troubleshooting.Review daily Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR) from every tech, ensuring they are completed correctly.  Performs monthly and quarterly inspections of all service trucks and equipment to ensure safety protocols are followed and the trucks and equipment are in good working order.  Ensures that the trucks are fully equipped with correct parts and supplies to ensure first-time job completion and maintain maximum efficiency of every job.Always reinforce and enforce the company’s policies and procedures.Remain flexible and adjust to changing priorities promptly and effectively.Support and promote the company’s ADVANCE Training Program and the Division’s efforts and processes for training all service technicians.Perform all other duties as assigned.Assists the Operations Manager with interviewing experienced technicians to help determine their level of experience.

 Working Conditions

Work incorporates a mixture of field, warehouse, and office work, primarily in the field (up to 90%), focusing on the growth of service technicians and timely, efficient, and quality performance on job sites. This position is classified as essential and those employed are expected to report to work in all conditions unless otherwise directed.

 Required Qualifications:

High School graduation or equivalentFive (5) years of lead technician experiencePrior experience in the dock and door industryAbility to complete a Fit for Duty Physical and DOT before the start date of employmentAttain forklift and scissor lift certification within 30 days of start date of employmentAttain OSHA 30 certification within 60 days of start date of employmentDemonstrated computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office Suite software applicationsCustomer-focused and customer service-orientedDemonstrated leadership experience and capabilities
