4 Year Degree OSU Department of Athletics is seeking a Assistant or Associate Athletic Director, Student-Athlete Development. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE)), 12-month,professional faculty position.

The mission of the OSU Department of Athletics is to Go Build Excellent, Authentic, Visionary Student-Athletes (GO B.E.A.V.S.). This position of Assistant or Associate AD, Student-Athlete Development is responsible for the delivery of all programming underneath the Everyday Champions umbrella of the Athletic Department. This position is responsible for the organization, communication and execution of appropriate initiatives, programming, and strategic plans designed to facilitate all student-athletes achieving success during their time at Oregon State University Key Responsibilities:

35% SUPERVISION & LEADERSHIP: Oversees Student-Athlete Development FTE, as well as graduate students and/or student workers who will assist with the implementation of programs and throughout the development of the Student-Athlete Development and Everyday Champions program.

Strategizes and identifies key areas of development opportunities for student- athletes. Plans opportunities to assist student-athletes with personal, leadership, and professional development.

Communicates planned activities to all internal and external stakeholders as appropriate; in a timely and professional manner. Monitors and tracks all activities and identifies student-athlete skill development opportunities, using data management as a key component to accomplish this portion of the position.

Approves specific activities and external requests for student-athlete participation for certain activities.

Oversees the awards and recognition process for all student-athletes, working closely with other departments (Academics, Communications, Ideation Team, etc.) to ensure student-athletes and specific teams have all award opportunities and submissions filed in a timely fashion.

Represents Student-Athlete Development at Senior Staff Meetings, Student- Athlete Welfare Committee, and various Strategic Planning Committee meetings. Responsible for and oversees the Student-Athlete Development budget, including developing and adhering to annual budget plans.

Attends quarterly meetings with the Athletic department CFO.

Models fiscal responsibility and maintains an understanding of all budget lines and revenue sources (academic enhancement fund, first round draft choice funds, athletic department budget, etc.).

Also includes oversight and contact with various vendors, including Kaplan, Gameplan and Helper Helper, etc.

20% PROGRAMMING: Creates and implements all aspects of programming and events underneath the Everyday Champions umbrella.

Responsible for the continued development and scheduling/planning of Everyday Champion programs, groups, speakers, and clubs.

Oversight of individuals who are working with student leaders on these specific groups. Development of the short- and long-term event and programming calendar. Organizes and executes regular group and individual meetings with student- athletes.

This position is responsible for organizing and communicating to coaches, staff, and student-athletes regarding mandatory meetings. These include, but are not limited to, NCAA violence prevention training, alcohol education, financial literacy and any other related trainings.

Has ultimate oversight over the Beavers Without Borders Program, which requires year-long coordination with OSU Global, student-athletes and our non- profit partners.

Oversees full-time staff member responsible for the organization of and development of the community service calendar in accordance with the four designated pillars of community service.

Responsible for transporting student- athletes to various community service events, which requires the person in the role to maintain a current, valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.

This position will be available and on site for various events as needed to ensure a safe and healthy environment for both student-athletes and those impacted within the community.

Tracks and monitors all community service and establishes a database to record hours served, people impacted and the number of participants on a quarterly and yearly basis.

15% EVENTS: Responsible for the planning, creation and execution for all Student-Athlete Development events including the Academic Achievement Dinner, Senior Brunch event, Trick or Treat in Gill, Beaver Blast Off, Otherside Talent Show, The Benny’s and assists in the development of various Varsity OSU networking events.

Responsible for assisting in organizing Captains Table and ensuring the OSU Athletic Director is in alignment with the programming for each dinner throughout the year.

Serves as the conference liaison for awards, meetings and other events.

Works closely with the Director of Varsity OSU and ensures interaction between Varsity OSU members and current student-athletes.

15% STUDENT-ATHLETE ADVISORY COMMITTEE (SAAC) LIAISON: Serves as the athletic department liaison with OSU’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), including attending all meetings and assisting student- athletes with the content and development of their programs.

Assists the SAAC executive group with developing the agenda for all sport SAAC monthly meetings.

Assists the executive SAAC group with strategic initiatives. Provides feedback to the sub committees with SAAC; gives advice on the design of sub-committees and their mission.

Assists the Treasurer with the accounting of SAAC funds. Assists the ASOSU liaison with Student Group Status.

Assists SAAC with any of their initiatives (e.g. beaver cup).

Responsible for ensuring Athletic department executive administrators are meeting with SAAC regularly and ensuring SAAC executives are able to interact regularly with administrators.

Sets up and schedules Athletic Director monthly brown bag lunch sessions with SAAC executives and other student-athletes.

Responsible for reviewing SAAC bylaws on a yearly basis.

10% ADMINISTRATIVE AND EDUCATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Coordinates the awards and recognition process for all student-athletes. Creates a database for nominees, submits award recognition for teams and individuals in accordance with NCAA, conference, institutional and general awards. Notifies appropriate individuals about their role in the process to ensure the correct procedures are followed.

Develops a series of ALS courses designed to create a curriculum and progression for student-athletes from freshman year to graduation.

Seeks input from campus entities and athletic department staff for course development.

Serves as the lead instructor for all courses and is responsible for communicating to students and the registrar’s office regarding course grades and attendance, which is a 3-course progression, one course offered each term.

5% EXTERNAL PARTNERSHIPS: Leads the implementation and completion of the First Round Draft Choice program. Interacts and communicates with appropriate members of selected First Round Draft Choice companies and ensures all contract objectives are being met.

Creates and schedules career-related programming for student-athletes on a quarterly and yearly basis.

Tracks and monitors attendance and communicates regularly with internal and external entities about progress for all programming; measures effectiveness and creates metrics for measurement.

Works in collaboration with campus Career Services and colleges on a regular basis. Seeks out and develops new relationships within the campus community in the areas of personal and professional development, including site visits to various organizations across industries to generate new professional opportunities for student-athletes.

Uses creativity in designing programs and objectivity with regards to partnerships.

Partners with Academic Services for Athletes to participate in various BEST sessions. Develops an entry assessment tool for incoming student-athletes to monitor preparedness and to assess level of personal risk.

Serves as the main contact with the Gameplan Group.

Implements various assessments with all student-athletes, monitors and tracks collected data and creates programming based on those results, both for team purposes and individual student-athletes.

Monitors yearly contract and services with Gameplan.

Bachelor’s degree
4 years of full-time Athletic department experience.
3 years of experience working in Life Skills or Student-Athlete Development with in a collegiate athletic department.

Associate AD, Student-Athlete Development:
Bachelor’s degree
5 years of full-time Athletic department experience.
3 years of experience working in Life Skills or Student-Athlete Development withina collegiate athletic department.
2 years of experience in a leadership/decision-making role with a Life Skills orStudent
