This is a advanced assistant (tenure-track, 9-month position) or associate professor (tenured; 9-month position) of Public Administration who will also serve as the director of our NASPAA-accredited MPA program. Primary duties will include teaching graduate Public Administration courses and Political Science courses if needed. The position has a reduced course load (2-2) to allow for program management and other duties, such as publishing research in Public Administration and/or closely related areas, advising MPA students, overseeing the MPA program and its governance, and serving on departmental, college, and university committees. Duties also include recruiting, maintaining accreditation, including assessment of courses and the program, and seeking external grant funding. This position requires face-to-face interactions through a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace.
The College of Arts and Sciences is the largest and most comprehensive academic unit at the university. Our faculty represent academic disciplines related to the behavioral, biological, chemical, engineering, mathematical, physical, and social sciences.
Required Qualifications
The successful candidate must hold a doctorate in Public Administration or a closely related field. For those hired as am Advanced Assistant Professor, candidate must have at least 4 years of teaching experience, a strong publication record, and leadership experience in an academic setting. For those hired as an Associate Professor, candidate must have record of publications commensurate to rank as well as teaching experience commensurate to rank (at least 5 years of full-time teaching experience in a university setting). Tenure will only be granted after approval of The Texas A&M University System Board of Regents. We strongly encourage candidates with (a) strong research skills, (b) a proven record of publication in peer-reviewed journals, (c) experience working with various student populations and (d) the ability to teach MPA core courses and in areas that complement or enhance our graduate and undergraduate programs.
