Assistant Plant Controller - Finance
JOB TITLE: Assistant Plant Controller LOCATION: Shelbyville/Remote - Hybrid JOB FAMILY: Finance TITLE OF IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Plant Controller GENERAL DESCRIPTION OR PURPOSE OF JOB: The Assistant Plant Controller role ensures that plant financial information is accurate and timely, that reports are consistent with general accounting principles, and that transactions are compliant with internal and external controls, including SOX. Incumbent participates in the plant department budgeting process, including efficiency monitoring. RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Item Responsibility/Function %Time 1 Ensure all transactions are fiscally responsible and comply with all company and local/state/federal regulations 40% 2 Month-end/Quarter-end/Year-end entries and compliance reporting 20% 3 Develop annual plan and quarterly forecasts 20% 4 Management reporting on financial results and balance sheet support 15% 5 Manage site expenses, wires and inter-co charges 10% SUPERVISION OF OTHERS: + Participate in decisions related to the selection, promotion, transfer, pay and discipline of assigned personnel. + Clearly communicate job duties and responsibilities to enable individuals to proceed with certainty in the performance of their positions. + Monitor the work performance of assigned personnel on a continual basis; conduct effective performance reviews; take corrective action whenever necessary and, where necessary, work with HR Generalists to establish performance improvement plans. + Support the development of assigned personnel’s skills and abilities, and demonstrate by personal example the desired standards of conduct (Jostens values) and work performance. + Identify and resolve skill gaps and succession issues. + Administer Company policies regarding discipline, absenteeism, etc., in a fair and equitable manner, and fully document all incidents and actions taken. + Involve assigned HR Generalist on compliance issues such as pay equity, equal opportunity in hiring and promotions, and proper procedures for hiring, terminations, lay-offs, etc. Required: + Financial accounting degree from accredited four-year institution. + 3-5 years of accounting experience. + Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively with all levels in the organization. + Excellent mathematical and analytical abilities. + Ability to maintain accurate and detailed records. + Ability to meet deadlines, handle confidential data appropriately, and deal with multiple projects. + Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Access, and Accounting tools. + Typical/expected % of overnight travel.
