Assistant Product Manager

Responsibilities: This person will assist in maintaining inventory levels, processing orders, maintaining data, and providing retail accounts with necessary information regarding products and orders. You will be expected to maintain quality professional relationships with vendors and retail sales to impact the Farm Supply department positively. You will also be asked to cross-train in various roles and responsibilities throughout the department to assist in times of need. All duties should be completed in accordance with company policy.

What You’ll Do

Maintain proper inventory management of assigned product groups (based on the guidelines provided by the Product Manager), considering peak periods, vendor promotions, lead times, inventory turns, and inventory values. Develop and maintain product and pricing knowledge on assigned product groups to enable fast, accurate, and courteous information Initiate purchase requisitions for assigned product groups, supplying all information for warehouse and direct shipments Develop and maintain contact with vendors Handle customer interactions in a professional manner, positively impacting the customer and the company. Keep the Product Manager up to date on all problem areas associated with the assigned product groups (i.e., shipping delays, quality problems, pricing difficulties) Become familiar with department programs and documentation to assist the Product Manager in maintaining pricing, product files, programs, and Farm Supply catalog. Item maintenance as needed (i.e., setting up items, discontinuing items, etc.) Run periodic sales, inventory, QC Hold, and back-order reports

Qualifications 

B.S. Degree in Agriculture, Business (or related program) or equivalent experience Experience in Inventory Management Experience with 2-Step Distribution
