Assistant Production Manager

Position Summary:

ASM Global - Richmond, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities has an excellent and immediate opening for an Assistant Production Manager at Dominion Energy Center. Under general direction of the Production Manger, the Assistant Production Manager serves as one of the primary production support team members for Dominion Energy Center. Duties will include advancing events with clients, producing events from concept to completion, creating estimates, scheduling technical personnel, house management, operations, and housekeeping staff. This position will also support the Altria Theater and other ASM venues as needs arise.  This position requires strong technical skills and prior experience with ETC lighting systems is a plus. A working knowledge of general stagecraft is required. Prior experience with video, projection and/or sound is preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Act as lead Production representative for events as assigned by the Production/Events Manager.Coordinate and advance events from concept to completion for which they are assigned. Schedule house crew and Union personnel for assigned events.Coordinate the Production activities with other departments and event related contractors to assure facility readiness and smooth operation of events.Supervise events in all assigned venues.Coordinate Public Safety, Security, Housekeeping, and Parking needs.Work with the production team to maintain all theatrical systems.All other duties as assigned by the Production/Events ManagerResponsible for keeping current inventory of all theatrical equipment, including all lighting, sound, video, rigging and all other miscellaneous equipment.Ensure all production related equipment and tools are in good working order and ready for use.Maintain all theatrical and production spaces.Ensures that all production related spaces adhere to all ASM Global and OSHA safety regulations.

Qualifications

Knowledgeable in ETC lighting consoles, networking and dimming.Knowledge and experience with Theatrical, Dance, Event and Concert Lighting.Basic knowledge with digital audio consoles, audio over IP networks, and IP network configuration.Strong troubleshooting abilities.Understanding of counterweight rigging.Understanding of video and projection equipment.Production management experience.Strong organizational skills a must.Ability to meet the various physical demands of the job, which include being able to get in and around the facility (requires personal mobility), lifting up to 75lb unassisted, carrying, moving, climbing, working safely from various heights, and exposure to moderate to loud noises.Operate a personal computer using Microsoft Office package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and other related computer based programs relevant to the position.Work effectively under pressure and/or stringent schedule.Organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines.Remain flexible and adjust to situations as they occur.Follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with others in both oral and written form.Great interpersonal skills.Must be able to multi-task.General IT knowledge a plus.

Education and work experience

Bachelor’s Degree in theater or other production field, or a minimum of 4 years’ experience in similar facility.

Additional experience may be substituted for education.

Other Qualifications                                                    

Ability to work with limited supervision and as a team member.

Requires ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, in addition to normal business hours.
