Touro Pharmacy invites applications for 12-month faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice. Specialty of particular interests are oncology, ambulatory care, psychiatry, or acute care.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities include but not limited to the following:

Develop an innovative clinical practice in an in-patient or ambulatory care setting and serve as a preceptor and role model for students on introductory and advanced pharmacy practice experiencesProvide didactic classroom teaching and recitation instruction on campusProvide service on college committees, will attend and participate in departmental meetings, and will perform other faculty duties as appropriateContribute to new knowledge (research) through research activities, poster presentations, publications, obtaining grants and/or contracts, clinical trials, and other scholarly workProvide reports and other documents as requested by Department Chairs, Directors, and Deans.Practice Site Job Responsibilities, Daily services provided by the pharmacist faculty member and/or students supervised by the faculty member include:Perform medication reconciliation for patients seen in the clinicPerform prospective medication review for patients seen in the clinicAdminister vaccines (flu, pneumococcal, shingles)Counsel patients on medications prescribed by providers on appointment dischargeDesign patient education leaflets for commonly prescribed agents including pain medications such as NSAIDs, Opioids, antimicrobials, and others as indicatedRespond to drug information queriesPerform prospective drug utilization reviews and provide interventions regarding agents prescribed by providers and to include review for drug interactions, contraindications, renal dosing, cost effective medication prescribing, preventative medication prescribingPerform screening tests as indicated and permittedPerform pharmacogenetic testing when indicatedProvide clinical pharmacology and pharmacotherapy education to providers and residents in areas identified by the providers (for example, antimicrobial spectrum/coverage indications for anticoagulant discontinuation, duration of action, and reversal agents, and pain management, renal dose, adjustment of commonly utilized agents, common and important drug-drug and drug-disease interactions)Provide timely information and updates on prescribing laws and regulations in NY StateDetect, report, and manage adverse drug reactions and medication errorsDevelop collaborative drug therapy management protocolsReview medication storage to assist in meeting regulatory requirementsOffer a rotation in the pharmacotherapy service to residentsLead and collaborate on research endeavors with school faculty and students Qualifications Education/ ExperienceDoctor of Pharmacy required.Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) with post-graduate training- a PGY-1 and PGY-2 Residency required, or Fellowship or equivalent clinical experiencePrevious academic experience and board certification in an area appropriate for the applicant's training and experience (e.g. BCPS or BCACP) are preferredMust be eligible for licensure in the state of New YorkKnowledge/ Skills/ AbilitiesA high degree of interpersonal competency: Professionalism, diplomacy, judgement, and discretion requiredStrong commitment to teaching practice and scholarshipExemplary interpersonal communication and organization skillsExcellent oral and written communication skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook
