Position Summary: The Wilkes Honors College (http://www.fau.edu/honors/) of Florida Atlantic University (FAU) invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Biology, starting in Fall 2025. This is a full-time (9-month) tenure-track position with an average teaching load of five courses per year. The Wilkes Honors College (WHC) is a separate unit within FAU, with its own full-time faculty and a four-year, liberal arts and sciences curriculum that includes interdisciplinary coursework, internship opportunities, study abroad programs, and a senior honors thesis. The WHC is located in Jupiter, Florida on FAU’s John D. MacArthur Campus, an international hub for scientific research and host to the world-renowned Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience and The Herbert Wertheim UF Scripps Institute for Biomedical Innovation and Technology, as well as FAU’s Stiles-Nicholson Brain Institute. In addition, FAU’s Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute is located in nearby Fort Pierce. The WHC’s four-year curriculum is centered on the traditional disciplines in the liberal arts and sciences, with an emphasis on critical thinking, independent study, community-based internships, and cross-disciplinary programs.
