One position will focus on the school counseling specialization and the other on clinical mental health counseling in PK-12 communities. The successful candidates will teach graduate-level counseling courses and provide clinical supervision; execute research, scholarly activity, and seek external grant funding congruent with expectations at a research-intensive university; advise and mentor counseling graduate students; provide leadership for the school counseling and/or other specializations; and engage in service to the program, school, college, university, profession, and community. Additional responsibilities include administrative and advocacy responsibilities associated with a CACREP -accredited counseling program and other duties as assigned. The preferred candidates will have experience in providing mental and behavioral health services to students, families, and communities involved in PK-12 education. Preferred candidates will also have a strong desire to utilize engaged scholarship with a focus on PK-12 students and the people and communities (such as parents, guardians, caretakers, teachers, and paraprofessionals) that educate, develop, and support them. These positions would be at CSU’s main campus in Fort Collins, CO, and are not eligible for remote work. These are tenure-track, nine-month, academic year appointments, with opportunities to teach during the summer semester for additional compensation. The Counseling and Career Development ( CCD ) Master of Arts Program integrates academics, research, and engagement to prepare ethical and culturally responsive counselors who enhance and advocate for the mental health, well-being, and life quality of all people. The program offers three specializations accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs ( CACREP ): Career Counseling, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and School Counseling. The CCD program enjoys a rich history of excellence in counselor education with a strong reputation for quality teaching. The School of Education is interested in applicants who are deeply committed to developing graduates who will impact the field, scholarship, and grant seeking and acquisition. RESPONSIBILITIES + Teach face-to-face graduate-level counseling courses in the Counseling and Career Development Program within areas of expertise and according to department and program needs. The typical teaching load is two courses per semester; summer teaching is typically available and needed. + Establish a scholarly research, grant-writing, and publication record with impact on counseling and counselor education, aligned with a Carnegie R1 University. + Provide clinical and administrative supervision during students’ practicum and internship experiences. + Integrate instructional and clinical technologies into the curriculum and supervision. + Provide leadership in specialization area(s) and support program accreditation-related activities. + Advise and mentor graduate students in the Counseling and Career Development Program, serve on graduate program committees, and engage in program development activities. + Provide service to the School of Education, University, community, state, and nation. + Participate in professional service and outreach efforts related to counseling at local, national, and international levels. + Work collaboratively with faculty in the School of Education, College, and University in the delivery of graduate programs, advising services, and collaborative research and research funding activities. + Support department, college, and university efforts in diversity, equity, and inclusion. + Assist in department and college governance and outreach. Conditions of EmploymentPre-employment Criminal Background Check (required for new hires) Required Job Qualifications + An earned doctorate or successful defense of dissertation by August 2025 in either Counselor Education and Supervision from a CACREP -accredited program or a counselor education program and able to meet requirements to serve as core faculty within a CACREP -accredited counseling program. + Colorado Professional Counseling licensure or licensure eligible, and/or Colorado School Counseling licensure or licensure-eligible. + Proven scholarly research and publication record commensurate with an R1 University, or potential to establish such a record. + Experience with graduate teaching and clinical supervision. + Commitment to using emerging technology in teaching, research, and service. + Demonstrated professional commitment to working with diverse populations. + Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching, research, and practice. Preferred Job Qualifications + School counseling licensure or licensure-eligible in Colorado + Evidence for and commitment to sustained professional engagement through professional development, professional service and advocacy in the PK-12 population and/or education communities (such as parents, guardians, caretakers, teachers, and paraprofessionals). + Research and scholarly activity with a focus on the PK-12 population and/or education communities (such as parents, guardians, caretakers, teachers, and paraprofessionals). + Experience in consultation and collaboration within PK-12 school settings and/or education communities (such as parents, guardians, caretakers, teachers, and paraprofessionals). + A record of, or demonstrated potential for, successful external grant seeking and acquisition. + Familiarity with the CACREP -accreditation process and experience in aligning curriculum, especially school counseling curriculum, to CACREP accreditation standards. + Experience in advising graduate students. + Experience and interest in serving as a chair and/or committee member on doctoral committees within the School of Education. + Experience teaching undergraduate students in the areas of counseling, mental health, and/or teacher preparation.
