The Department of Social Work at Utah State University (USU) invites applications for a tenure-track, nine-month, appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. Located at the USU flagship campus in Logan, Utah, this position is part of department, college, and university wide clusters of searches designed to foster interdisciplinary scholarship and creative activity, and to increase curricular and research coverage of areas that reinforce USU’s institutional priorities as a land-grant, public service university.

This hire is part of a broader cluster initiative examining health and educational disparities across the College of Humanities & Social Sciences, the Emma Eccles Jones College of Education and Human Services, and the Quinney College of Natural Resources. This collaboration seeks to expand and enhance research and curricular offerings that investigate and produces scholarship around these themes in Utah, the nation, and the world. 

 

This appointment, in the USU Department of Social Work, has a start date of August 1, 2025. This tenure-track position has a role assignment of 50% research, 40% teaching, and 10% service.

Minimum Qualifications:

An MSW from a CSWE-accredited social work programTwo years post-MSW practice experienceA PhD in social work or closely-related field at the time of appointment. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

Candidate who has teaching experience at undergraduate and graduate levelsTeaching experience with online and distance education technologyDemonstrated record of scholarly activityDemonstrated capacity for securing external fundingExpertise in advanced generalist social work practice, particularly in the areas of culturally-responsive practice with a focus in substance use and misuse, criminal justice, or other areas of expertise that further the USU land grant mission.  Required Documents
