The Touro University Graduate School of Social work is seeking candidates for a full-time (10-month appointment) Assistant Professor in Social Work, with extensive asynchronous online education experience and specialization in clinical practice for the online portion of the MSW program. We welcome applications from candidates in the United States, able to work in eastern standard time, who seek to build an academic career in a clinical online social work program. Ideal candidates will have a defined area of research and scholarship, background in social work practice, with comprehensive and extensive teaching experience in asynchronous distance education. Distance education experience should include course design, instructional design experience, asynchronous best practices, instruction/teaching in asynchronous courses, student advising, mentoring and supporting adjunct faculty and colleagues, ability to engage students in the online environment both in and out of the classroom, developing and leading trainings, currency with evolving technology (simulations and artificial intelligence), CSWE accreditation experience, working to ensure high quality and high engagement levels with faculty and students, and course lead or sequence lead experience. A typical workday will entail teaching, advising, and meetings. Faculty carry a 21-credit workload per academic year and are expected to teach, advise students, and engage in scholarship. Faculty participate in MSW program activities as needed (orientation, community days, committee meetings, and curriculum development), and will also contribute on departmental and university-wide committees. This is a fully remote position.

The school’s curriculum is informed by the person-in-environment, ecological and strengths-based perspectives. The school provides students with a social work education that offers a theoretical and evidence-based foundation in generalist social work, as well as advanced knowledge and skills for effective clinical social work. This education prepares graduates for leadership roles in clinical social work practice with vulnerable populations in the contemporary service delivery environment.

Education/ Experience

Applicants must have a Master of Social Work degree and a doctorate in a related field of study; a Ph.D. in Social Work or a DSW degree is preferred.Social work licensure requiredA minimum of 5 years of asynchronous online teaching experience requiredSome social work higher education administrative experience preferredInstructional course design experience requiredStudent advising experience preferred but not requiredExperience with clinical simulation technology and artificial intelligence experience a plus

 

Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities

Experience with Canvas and electronic learning management systemsProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Zoom

Travel

Presence for quarterly program meetings and conferences as necessary.
