Job Description:
Iona University’s New York-Presbyterian Iona School of Health Science’s Graduate Occupational Therapy (OT) Program seeks a tenure track Assistant Professor with expertise in OT Practice with adults with physical/neurological injuries and disabilities in varied practice settings. The faculty member will be responsible for delivering high quality learning experiences and education for graduate OT students. The faculty member will demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, establish a productive scholarship agenda, have a record of service to the School/University, and work collaboratively with colleagues in the department and across the university. This is a 11-month tenure-track faculty position that will begin in January 2025.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide student-centered learning environment with teaching responsibilities including
in person academic instruction with virtual supplementary course delivery as needed, student advisement for academic and professional development.
Teach and/or co-teach coursework in OT Foundations, Adult Acute Care, Rehabilitation and Community Practice course content. Collect and apply learning assessment information to improve teaching and the overall Iona OT curriculum. Develop a scholarly agenda that is consistent with the vision and mission of the Iona University OT Program and implement a scholarship /faculty development plan as required by ACOTE accreditation standards and Iona University. Disseminate scholarly work consistent with Iona University policies and accreditation expectations. Stay current with clinical practice and evidence that supports OT Practice and participate in quality improvement initiatives to meet program, school, and institutional goals. Maintain positive, collaborative relationships with program, school, and university faculty and staff, as well as with OT community partners. Advise students on academic and professional issues and provide appropriate student support referrals as needed Collaborate with Program Director and faculty in the design, refinement and implementation of OT Program curriculum that meets or exceeds ACOTE accreditation standards. Participate in OT program and NYP Iona School of Health Science recruitment, retention, and admissions activities; committee work including program evaluation, accreditation tasks, and other tasks as assigned by the Program Director. Support and participates in shared governance and curricular planning and development. Serves on programmatic and university committees. Actively participate in occupational therapy and/or inter-professional curricular and co-curricular activities. Serve as university liaison in community and/or professional activities and organizations. Demonstrate professionalism and ethical behavior. Fulfill other duties and responsibilities as requested by the OT Program Director and Dean, School of the New York Presbyterian Iona School of Health Science. Represent Iona University, the NY Presbyterian Iona School of Health Sciences, the occupational therapy program, its services and staff professionally and articulately. Ability to fully understand and respect the culture of Iona University, its Mission and the heritage of the Christian Brothers, as well as the ability to establish strong collaborative relationships with students, faculty and staff.
