Iona University’s New York-Presbyterian Iona School of Health Science’s COAMFTE accredited MS in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) program seeks a tenure track Assistant Professor with expertise in COAMFTE accreditation standards, including teaching course such as Ethical and legal issues, Psychopathology, research methods and advanced theories in MFT as well as a demonstrated commitment to social justice and student mentorship. The faculty member will demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in teaching graduate MFT students, establish a productive scholarship agenda, have a record of service to the School/University, and work collaboratively with colleagues in the department and across the university. This is a 10-month tenure-track faculty position that will begin in August 2025.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide instruction to graduate marriage and family therapy (MFT) students as outlined in departmentally developed, competency-based course syllabi (inclusive of holding classes as scheduled) Utilize a range of teaching and/or supervision strategies that support the presentation of course material, including (as appropriate), conduct live supervision through the use of live observational recording software, and the use of Medicat electronic medical records, Tevera student’s academic record platform and other instructional technology as needed. Provide faculty mentoring to students completing MFT Capstone and academic advising of students Serve as integral member of the Marriage & Family Therapy faculty team and where appropriate, collaborate/coordinate with faculty assigned to other sections of a shared course to ensure consistency of content delivery. Develop a scholarly agenda that is consistent with the vision and mission of the Iona University MFT program and implement a scholarship /faculty development plan as required by the department, School and University. Disseminate scholarly work consistent with Iona University policies and expectations. Familiarize oneself with departmental, school and university policies that may have implications for course delivery (e.g., FERPA regulations, PeopleSoft, attendance policies, grading policies, weather-related closings, procedures for withdrawal, requests for incompletes etc.) Stay current with clinical practice and evidence that supports MFT practice and participate in quality improvement initiatives to meet program, school, and institutional goals. Collaborate with Program Director and faculty in the design, refinement and implementation of MFT curriculum that meets COAMFTE accreditation standards. Maintain openness to incorporate campus events/activities into the course schedule as may be deemed appropriate by the department Participate in MFT program and NYP Iona School of Health Science recruitment, retention, and admissions activities; committee work including program evaluation, accreditation tasks, and other tasks as assigned by the Program Director. Support and participate in shared governance and curricular planning and development. Participate in regularly scheduled faculty meetings serve on programmatic and university committees. Participate and collaborate with the MFT faculty on Program’s goals, activities and projects and represent Iona University, the NY Presbyterian Iona School of Health Sciences professionally and articulately.
