Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit The mission of the Department of Accounting and Finance (ACF) is to provide high-quality undergraduate education programs for accounting and finance majors and graduate accounting education. We achieve this by integrating quality education with relevant research and professional service for firms, industry, and academe. The Department of Accounting and Finance comprises 19 full-time faculty in the accounting and finance areas. As of Fall 2024 the Department served 920 undergraduate students and 100 students in the master’s in accounting program. All programs, including the undergraduate finance degree, are offered online and in person. Our faculty are active in research and have published in journals such as Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of Banking and Finance, and other very-high quality journals.
The Bryan School of Business and Economics has 4,100 undergraduate and graduate students and 127 full- and part-time faculty members housed in six departments. Women comprise 46.7 percent of the School’s faculty and 29.1 percent are from underrepresented ethnic groups (UREG); the School is striving to improve both percentages. The Bryan School graduates more Black/African American undergraduate business students, and the combination of Black/African American and Hispanic undergraduate business students, than ANY university in North Carolina and has a strong placement rate and salary.
Accredited in both business and accounting by AACSB, the Bryan School is the recipient of many rankings, honors, and accolades. Additionally, in recent years its tenure-stream faculty members averaged 2 to 3 peer-reviewed journal articles each, among them 15-20 in FT50 journals plus another 20-25 in other 4 or 4* journals (CABS AJG), in addition to books and grants. The Bryan School of Business & Economics provides excellent support for faculty research including subscriptions to CRSP, COMPUSTAT, and the WRDS platform, reduced teaching load, summer support, travel support for presentations at top national conferences, and rewards for publications in journals on the Financial Times 50 list. Position Summary The Bryan School of Business and Economics at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro is seeking qualified applications for a tenure stream position at the rank of Assistant Professor (tenure-track) in the Department of Accounting and Finance beginning August 1, 2025.
The University emphasizes high quality in research and teaching, and teaching responsibilities will primarily be at the undergraduate level and will include both online and face-to-face instruction. Service to the University and to the academic and/or practicing professions is also expected.

Minimum Qualifications Applicants should hold a Doctorate from an AACSB or EQUIS-accredited school with a specialization in Finance or a related field. ABDs who are assured of completion by August 1, 2025, may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications Candidates should show promise of publishing in mainstream high quality refereed Finance journals. Evidence of teaching experience will be considered positively. Professional work experience will be considered positively.
