University of Rochester: Office of the Provost: University of Rochester Medical Center: School of Medicine and Dentistry: Dentistry **Salary Range or Pay Grade** 32,240.00 - 500,000.00 **Description** The Eastman Institute for Oral Health at the University of Rochester Medical Center is seeking a dynamic and qualified individual to join our faculty as an Assistant Professor. This full-time, position offers an exciting opportunity for an educator passionate about advancing dental education through curriculum development, assessment, teaching, research and innovation. **Key Responsibilities:** 1. **Curriculum Development:** 2. Collaborate with Program Directors and Departmental Chairpersons to design, implement, and continuously enhance the dental residency curriculum. 3. Ensure alignment with current dental practices and Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) standards. 4. Incorporate advanced educational methodologies and technologies to enhance the learning experience. 5. **Assessment and Evaluation:** 6. Develop and implement strategies to assess resident progress and evaluate program effectiveness. 7. Analyze assessment data to drive curriculum improvements and boost educational outcomes. 8. Represent the EIOH on university committees specific to assessment and evaluation. 9. **Professional Development:** 10. Develop and oversee specialized programs to support the ongoing professional growth of dental residents. 11. Organize workshops, seminars, and mentorship opportunities to address emerging trends and skills in the field of dentistry. 4. **Collaboration and Leadership:** o Partner with faculty members to ensure cohesive and comprehensive educational delivery. o Provide guidance and support to MS students, fostering a continuous learning environment. 5. **Research and Innovation:** a) **Access to Oral Health Care Among Underserved Populations:** 1. Design and conduct research studies aimed at identifying and addressing barriers to oral health care access among underserved populations, including low-income, rural, and minority groups. 2. Develop and evaluate interventions that increase access to dental services in these communities, considering factors such as cost, transportation, and cultural barriers. 3. Collaborate with researchers at other UR departments to facilitate translating research findings into practical interventions. b) **Culturally Competent Communication:** 1. Lead research efforts to improve culturally competent communication between patients and dental care providers, focusing on enhancing understanding, trust, and adherence to treatment plans. 2. Develop and test educational tools and resources designed to train dental professionals in culturally responsive communication techniques. 3. Assess the impact of these interventions on patient satisfaction, treatment outcomes, and overall oral health, particularly in diverse and underserved populations. 4. Integrate cultural competence is into dental education and clinical practices. c) **Team Science-Related Educational Research:** 1. Conduct research on team-based approaches to dental education, exploring the effectiveness of interdisciplinary collaboration in dental training and practice. 2. Investigate the role of team science in enhancing educational outcomes, improving clinical practices, and fostering innovation within the oral health field. 3. Design and evaluate educational programs that promote teamwork and interdisciplinary learning in dental education, measuring their impact on both educators and students. 4. Assess team-based learning initiatives, ensuring that they foster effective interdisciplinary collaboration and improve educational and clinical outcomes in dental training. 5. Engage in research focused on dental education, curriculum development, educational assessment, and professional development. 6. Contribute to the advancement of best practices in dental education through scholarly activities and publications. 7. **Teaching:** o Co-teach courses on research methods, practical skills, and qualitative research to support MS students. o Provide guidance to MS students on writing and developing research questions, proposals, publications, and theses. **Qualifications** 1. **Education:** 2. PhD with a concentration in Educational Studies, Leadership, and Management. 3. **Experience:** 4. Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in education, curriculum development, and assessment. 5. **Skills:** 6. Strong skills in research, statistics, curriculum management, educational outcome assessment, data management, and course design. 7. **Additional Requirements:** 8. Post-offer health assessment is required. 9.
