Position Summary: The Department of Counselor Education at Florida Atlantic University is seeking a counselor educator to join our faculty on a tenure-track line at the assistant professor rank with an emphasis in Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling beginning in August 2025. The Department, located in Southeast Florida, includes eight faculty members and offers M. Ed. degrees in School Counseling, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling, and a Ph.D. in Counseling (all CACREP-accredited). In addition, the Department offers Ed.S. degrees. Primary responsibilities will include active research and publication, grant writing, service, supervision and teaching in a CACREP-accredited master’s program. The information below outlines the essential functions, qualifications, and desired skills for the position. Essential Functions: 1. Teach master’s level core courses in a CACREP-accredited counseling program, including a variety of formats. In addition to supervision of rehabilitation counseling practicum and internships, courses within rehabilitation counseling include foundations, medical and psychosocial aspects of disability, case management in rehabilitation counseling, and occupational information & job placement 2. Advise and mentor degree-seeking students and serve on doctoral-level dissertation committees 3. Participate in all meetings and assigned committees related to the counseling department 4. Develop and maintain an active research line in rehabilitation counseling and counselor education, including publications and presentations 5. Participate in service activities within the department, college, and university, as well as in professional counseling organizations 6. Minimum Qualifications: 1. Earned doctorate in Counseling or Counselor Education from a CACREP-accredited program. Degree at time of application or official notification of completion of the doctoral degree by August 1, 2025 /or/ Doctorate in Rehabilitation, Counselor Education from a CACREP or CORE accredited program. 2. Must have or be eligible for the Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) credential. Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 1. Knowledge of CACREP accreditation standards 2. Experience using instructional technology to deliver online and hybrid courses 3. Two (2) years of paid work experience serving a wide range of persons with disabilities, not including practicum and/or internship experiences 4. Eligible for membership in Chi Sigma Iota 5. Understanding of competency-based training 6. Evidence of active involvement with state, regional, or national counseling associations 7. Experience teaching graduate-level rehabilitation counseling courses and core general counseling coursework 8. Effective oral and written communication, and technology skills 9.
