Job Description:
The Department of History at the University of Florida, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, tenure-accruing position at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning August 16, 2025, in the field of Vast Early American history (before 1830).
The successful candidate should be able to contribute to the Department of History’s intellectual growth and emphasis on interdisciplinary and collaborative research. We especially welcome applicants who incorporate digital history into their scholarship, public engagement, or teaching.
The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching a diverse body of undergraduate and graduate students in Gainesville, Florida, and maintain a robust research and publishing agenda commensurate with a Research 1 institution. Teaching responsibilities include introductory, upper-division, and graduate courses in Early American history. Equally important is the ability to contribute effectively to the department’s graduate program: mentoring graduate students, offering graduate seminars, and chairing and serving on graduate committees (including serving on committees in other departments).
