Preference will be given to candidates with a research program complementing the strengths of the department; such as ion channels, synaptic and neuronal physiology, circuit physiology; endocrine and cardiometabolic homeostatic systems; and neurological disease. Expanding areas on campus include biomedical engineering, neurobiology of aging, and clinical neurology. The successful candidate is expected to maintain an independent, extramurally-funded research program and participate in the Departmental teaching mission. Opportunities for collaboration exist with faculty in multiple basic science and engineering departments across campus including those associated with the veterinary teaching hospital. Teaching responsibilities will be in the general area of cellular/molecular physiology or neuroscience. Conditions of EmploymentPre-employment Criminal Background Check (required for new hires) Required Job Qualifications - Applicants must have experience in cellular and/or molecular neuroscience as evidenced by publication history and exhibit potential for a research program that spans multiple levels of analysis and/or models, including disease models. We define cellular and molecular neuroscience as the field of research and knowledge that focuses on the function of neurons and supporting cells; the function of subcellular organelles; and molecular components, including the genetic mechanisms, that support neuronal function. Assistant Professor: - PhD or equivalent degree - Relevant experience as a postdoctoral fellow or assistant professor and other qualifying credentials. Preferred Job Qualifications Preference will be given to applicants with a strong publication record and evidence of competitiveness for national-level funding in the areas of cellular and molecular neuroscience. The research program of the ideal candidate includes, but is not limited to, approaches using model organisms,ex vivoslices, cell/tissue cultures, organoid systems, or microfluidic systems.
