Assistant Professor of Biology
Position Details: The Department of Biology at Loyola University Maryland ( LUM ) invites applications for two tenure-track Assistant Professor positions, one in anatomy and physiology and one in ecology and evolutionary biology to begin in July 2024. We are looking for candidates committed to excellence in undergraduate education at a dynamic liberal arts university who can continue a productive research program. The search committee is especially interested in candidates who, through their research, teaching, and/or service, will contribute to LUM’s stated goal of equity and inclusion of the academic community. For the anatomy and physiology position, we seek outstanding candidates from all areas of physiology who can support our robust and growing pre-health programs. Loyola prepares students for a broad array of pre-health careers including medicine, dental, physician’s assistant, nursing, and physical therapy. For the ecology and evolutionary biology position, those with expertise in urban ecology or who can draw on the local resource of our Chesapeake Bay are of particular interest. Successful candidates will teach two courses in their area of expertise (each with lecture and laboratory) and will contribute to our introductory biology sequence. The successful candidate should possess an awareness of and interest in high impact practices in line with the mission of Jesuit higher education. Faculty development opportunities are also available.
