Campus Title Assistant Professor of Creative Writing Department English Position Summary The English Department at SUNY Geneseo is pleased to accept applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Creative Writing (Fiction). This position carries an 18-credit load, taught as a 2-2-2-3 cycle across two years. We seek a candidate with MFA or Ph.D. and a strong record of publication–ideally one book with a nationally-recognized press (or equivalent)–who would be able to teach:

The Department offers a B.A. in English with both Literature and Creative Writing tracks, and a B.A. in Comparative Literature. The Department also supports many interdisciplinary majors and minors. Recently-hired faculty explore West African fiction and film and the intersection of writing studies and transgender rhetorics. We offer microcredentials in literary translation, science communication, and publishing. Our Literary Forum brings 2-3 writers to campus each year; we publish the SUNY-wide undergraduate literary journal, Gandy Dancer; and we are near a thriving literary and arts scene in Rochester, NY, offering students internship possibilities and other cultural opportunities. As a department, we collaborate with area organizations such as Writers and Books, Visual Studies Workshop, and the Genesee Valley Council on the Arts. We expect all Department faculty to make use of the online learning platform Brightspace for in-person, hybrid, and online courses.
