Duties Performed in the Usual Course of the Job Teach courses supporting both BFA and MFA in Dance, Essential expertise includes the ability to teach advanced-level technique courses in either ballet, modern/contemporary, or jazz to dance majors. The candidate must also be skilled in teaching choreography. Additional teaching assignments may include areas that complement the department’s curriculum, such as dance history, non-Western dance forms, critical studies, pedagogy, technology, production, Pilates, or somatic-based practices. Educational Requirements for the Position MFA or PhD in Dance. Experience Required for the Position Minimum two years of experience teaching at the college level is required.


Other Requirements for the Position The successful candidate will be a dynamic and inspiring teacher, mentor, and practicing dance artist. Robust engagement in research aligned with the candidate’s area of pedagogy is required. This may include choreography, performance, peer-reviewed publications, or presentations. Service to the department is an ongoing responsibility, including chairing thesis committees, advising undergraduate students, participating in auditions and juries, and contributing to departmental development and assessment initiatives. Regularly choreographing and collaborating with students for departmental performances is expected. Faculty develop and pursue an agenda of creative activity/research centered in dance and appropriate to the candidate’s areas of expertise.  Special Instructions Summary Open Until Filled Yes EEO Statement
