The incumbent would be expected to teach courses that would include but are not limited to: Introduction to Sustainability, Environmental Dilemmas (a capstone sustainability course), Introductory Earth Science, Introductory Geology, Planetary Science, Introductory Astronomy, Minerology/Petrology Laboratory, and GPS Field Techniques. + Deliver courses using a variety of methods, including in-person and online, commensurate with department and university needs. + Provide evidence of continuing preparation and study in the field to enhance teaching abilities. + Contribute to student growth and development including student advising. + Engage in service to the University and community. + Support Minnesota State University Moorhead's strategic priority of creating a campus community that is diverse, inclusive, globally aware, and just. + A full-time teaching load is 12 credits per semester. + This is an in-person/on-campus position (not remote). **Minimum Qualifications:** + Earned master's degree in Geoscience or related field. + Must meet Higher Learning Commission [HLC] faculty credentialing guidelines [e.g. have 18 graduate credit hours in the discipline the faculty is teaching]. + Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate courses + Demonstrated commitment to quality teaching and evidence of successful undergraduate teaching experience. + Excellent communication skills. + Demonstrated ability to work successfully with students of diverse backgrounds including sensitivity to their needs and concerns. **Preferred Qualifications:** + Earned doctorate in Geoscience or closely related field by date of appointment. + Skills/ability to integrate technology to enhance learning and teaching. + Ability to teach Introductory Physics Laboratory + Ability to teach upper-level Geoscience classes such as Meteorology and Environmental Geochemistry + Ability to mentor student research experiences. + Post-doctoral experience. + Engage in scholarly research or creative achievement to enhance knowledge of field. **Other Requirements:** + The successful candidate must be able to lawfully accept employment in the United States by the day employment begins.
