Assistant Professor of Global Health and Social Medicine
Details Title Assistant Professor of Global Health and Social Medicine School Harvard Medical School Department/Area Global Health and Social Medicine / Mental Health Position Description Harvard Medical School invites applications to a search for an Assistant Professor of Global Health and Social Medicine specializing in global mental health implementation research science. This researcher would apply skills in implementation science within one or more of these themes: the scaling up of psychosocial interventions, the use of digital technologies for assuring quality mental health care, adolescent and youth mental health, and/or addictions. S/he would have significant experience working in low-resource settings internationally and/or in the United States. The incumbent would be expected to lead independent research, pursuing new global mental health research opportunities available through federal agencies and international funders. One key area for future strategy is the application of global health innovations to improving access to quality care in the United States. The incumbent would be expected to teach and mentor medical students, trainees and field-based colleagues interested in global health, social medicine, and primarily global mental health. She or he would participate in teaching efforts central to the Department’s educational mission, including within the Master of Medical Sciences in Global Health Delivery Program and courses on Global Mental Health. She or he would be encouraged to develop new courses as well. Ideally, candidates will have experience mentoring students and/or colleagues based in low-resource contexts and will have demonstrated ability to build capacity in research methods. The appointed faculty member will have leadership roles in the Mental Health for All Lab (https://mentalhealthforalllab.hms.harvard.edu/) and with Global Mental Health@Harvard (https://globalhealth.harvard.edu/domains/global-mental-health-harvard/) including mentoring of postdocs and staff and serving on the steering committee for the Global Mental Health@Harvard initiative. She or he will participate in building on established research partnerships and developing new funding opportunities for research and innovation in the field.
