The School of Management at Binghamton University (State University of New York at Binghamton) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in the area of Management Analytics with an emphasis in Leadership/Strategy/Organization Science starting mid-August 2025, subject to budgetary approval.
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. degree in Management or will have completed all degree requirements by the academic year obligation start date (August 18, 2025). We welcome applications from candidates with backgrounds in systems engineering, psychology, and/or related interdisciplinary fields.
Faculty in the Leadership and Organization Science area at Binghamton University have a strong collegial relationship and regularly collaborate on research topics that integrate micro/macro disciplines, leverage different methodological perspectives (e.g., qualitative, quantitative and mixed-method approaches), and utilize extant multilevel analytical tools (e.g., WABA, RCM/HLM, MSEM, multilevel networks, agent-based simulation, social network analysis). We are seeking a researcher who would complement this orientation with strong methodological and analytical foundations with a willingness to engage in multilevel research and/or with researchers focused on different levels of analysis.
Faculty in the Leadership and Organization Science Area have published in high-quality journals that include: Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Management, Journal of Management Studies, Leadership Quarterly, Organizational Research Methods, Organization Studies, Organization Science, and Personnel Psychology. Additionally, our faculty have received external funding from federal agencies including: Army Research Institute, Department of Defense, Federal Emergency Management Association, and the National Science Foundation.
Position Responsibilities
+ Produce original and innovative research to be published in top-tier business academic journals. To support faculty research, SOM provides summer funding for the first three years of service.
+ Deliver required/elective courses in analytics with regard to leadership, leadership/management, strategic management and/or organization sciences at the undergraduate and graduate program levels and contribute analytics courses to the doctoral program in Leadership and Organization Sciences. The standard teaching load is 2+2 per academic year.
+ Actively participate in the school's graduate programs and graduate student advising.
+ Contribute to the school, the university, and the professional community by providing appropriate service through involvement in committees, shared governance undertakings, curriculum development and assessment.
Job Requirements:
Mandatory Qualifications
+ A current Ph.D. in Management or related interdisciplinary field (e.g., systems engineering, psychology), or have completed all degree requirements (including securing valid immigration status and work authorization, if applicable) by the academic year obligation start date (August 18, 2025).
+ Expertise in areas such as natural language processing/embeddings, machine learning, generative AI, and/or dynamic modeling (and other approaches useful for looking at temporal features and dynamics).
+ Demonstrate potential to establish a successful track record of scholarly research. This can be substantiated by providing copies of published articles, submitted manuscripts, and work-in-progress papers aimed at publication in top-tier journals.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Ability to demonstrate strong multilevel research skills and innovative teaching capabilities.
+ Ability to display excellent analytical, quantitative, and data management training directed towards addressing strategic business challenges and improving managerial decision-making.
+ We are a collaborative research group and are particularly interested in scholars whose work complements the ongoing research initiatives of our existing faculty. We are seeking applicants with a research focus in organization science, leadership/management and/or human capital resource emergence.
