Department: Dept of Mass Communication Nature & Purpose of Position/Usual Duties: The Department of Mass Communication at Sam Houston State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Film and Media Studies starting in Fall 2025. We seek a scholar with a strong publication record in Film and Media Studies. Teaching responsibilities will include three classes per semester, which may include film appreciation, film theory, film history, film genres, and media practicum (Film Festivals), as well as core department courses or graduate courses aligned with the candidate’s areas of expertise. The ideal candidate for the position should have the ability to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels. Key responsibilities include: Teach a 3/3 course load. Student mentorship, including advising graduate thesis and independent study projects. Curriculum development at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Participation in departmental and university service while upholding their engagement in the field. Presentation and publication of research associated with their area of study.
