Assistant Professor of Philosophy, Tenure-Track
The Division of Human Studies in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Alfred University invites applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Philosophy, beginning Fall 2025.

We seek someone able to offer a broad range of upper and lower division courses that will interest both philosophy majors and students in other fields. Preference will be given to applicants who can teach both analytic and continental philosophy and have competence in History of Philosophy and Philosophy of the Arts.  The successful candidate should be able to create new courses that attract students from outside Philosophy (in particular, students from the School of Art and Design) and have crossover potential amongst the other programs within the Division of Human Studies (History and Religious Studies) and the College’s interdisciplinary programs (such as Global Studies, Africana Studies, Women and Gender Studies, and Social Justice Studies).

Salary: $55,000-62,000 annually

Required Qualifications:Ph.D. in Philosophy in hand by August 31, 2025.Demonstrated excellence, or evidence of potential for excellence, in teaching.A record of research and publications in Philosophy consistent with career stage.Enthusiasm for the kinds of service, both to the discipline and to the University, that will encourage student participation and a sense of community.
