Assistant Professor of Philosophy (Tenure-Track)- Lyon College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Philosophy position, starting in August 2025. This role is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic, growing institution committed to inspiring curiosity. The salary range is $52,000-$62,000, depending on a candidate’s experience.
Qualifications:
● A terminal degree and broad training in philosophy.
● An understanding of teaching at a small liberal arts college.
● Undergraduate teaching experience is preferred.
● Must be able to teach an introductory level ethics course.
● Ability to teach survey courses in World Philosophies and World Religions is preferred.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
● Teach courses needed by the discipline, division, and college, including survey courses and
courses in the candidates area(s) of expertise.
● Engage in a 21 load-hour teaching schedule.
● Pursue an active scholarly and research agenda.
● Serve on college committees and participate in college governance; serve as an academic
adviser (starting in the second year); participate in recruiting activities as appropriate; engage in
curricular development and assessment efforts; and engage with the surrounding community.
