The Keck School of Medicine of USC Department of Neurological Surgery is currently seeking a full-time, non-tenure or tenure track Assistant Professor of Research in Neurological Surgery. This faculty member will work within the USC Spine Center and collaborate with surgeons to develop a data analytics program for advanced clinical decision-making tools. The ideal applicant will have expertise in artificial intelligence and machine learning, with a track record of research publications. This faculty member will have access to large institutional, national, and international clinical datasets to test and develop tools that will improve our ability to interpret digital health records, medical imaging, and patient interactions. This unique opportunity provides room for independent and collaborative research with a dedicated faculty of neurosurgeons, orthopaedic surgeons, physiatrists, and radiologists who are committed to building a world-class research program. Internal start-up funding is available and there will be opportunity to work with students at both USC and Caltech.
Applicants must have a doctoral degree. Ideal candidates will have a track record of postdoctoral work that demonstrates exceptional performance in research environments, leading projects, and working closely with or mentoring junior scientists/PhD candidates during their research time. Experience in the field of spinal disorders is ideal, but not required.
