Assistant Professor of Scenic Design
Location: Bowling Green, KY Category: Faculty Posted On: Wed Nov 20 2024 Job Description: The Western Kentucky University Department of Theatre & Dance seeks an Assistant Professor of Scenic Design. In addition to teaching, this individual will serve as scenic designer or mentor of student designers for all departmental productions. Classes may include introductory design courses, set design, theatre appreciation, stagecraft, and other topics depending on candidate's expertise and department needs. Areas of student mentorship may include scenery, props, and scenic painting. This is a tenure-eligible position with expectations in service and ongoing scholarly and/or creative work. Service work may include advising, committee service, recruiting, or other department and university service. Scholarly and creative work may include professional design and technical work, publication, and presentations. The department places a high value on inclusivity, student success, and collaboration. Job Requirements: + Terminal degree in the field of theatre design and/or technology (or a closely related field) completed by date of employment. + Professional experience in theater design and/or technology. + Evidence of competency in computer-aided drafting applications.
