Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit The Political Science Department is staffed by 10 full-time faculty and approximately 12 part-time instructors. It offers a comprehensive undergraduate program for approximately 300 political science majors. The department also serves students across the University by teaching courses in the general education curriculum. At the graduate level, the department offers a nationally accredited Master in Public Affairs (MPA) degree and two certificate programs—one in Nonprofit Management and one in Urban and Economic Development. The graduate program enrolls approximately 100 students each year, including typically 55-60 MPA students. Position Summary Assistant Professor Position in Political Science: Public Administration
The Department of Political Science houses the NASPAA-accredited Master of Public Affairs (MPA) program. Offering concentrations in community & economic development, local government, and nonprofit management, the MPA program primarily serves the local region through an on-campus program. As part of the department’s graduate programming, we offer an online graduate certificate program in nonprofit management and an on-campus graduate certificate program in urban and economic development. The MPA program primarily serves the local region through courses offered on-campus during the evening. This position will add to the department’s faculty that emphasizes high quality, student-centered undergraduate and graduate education, maintains a strong research agenda, and engages in meaningful service within the University (including a strong commitment to student mentoring), the profession, and the community.
