Position description The Department of English at UCLA is pleased to invite applications for a tenure-track position in postcolonial literature at the rank of beginning Assistant Professor. We are especially interested in applicants with expertise in literature from Africa, South Asia, and the Arab world. We seek outstanding candidates with the potential for exceptional research, excellence in teaching, and a clear commitment to enhancing the diversity of the faculty, graduate student population, and majors and minors in English. The Department of English values interdisciplinarity, and we welcome applicants who pursue postcolonial studies via a broad range of methodological frameworks. Appointment begins on July 1, 2025. The salary range for this position is $78,200 - $101,400. “Off-scale salaries” and other components of pay, i.e., a salary that is higher than the published system-wide salary at the designated rank and step, are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions.
