NMU maintains a Master’s Degree in Psychology with experimental, applied behavior analytic, and clinical course sequences, as well as an undergraduate degree with concentrations in Clinical/Mental Health, Developmental psychology, Social psychology, Brain and Behavior, and Behavior and Cognition. Our mission is to promote the discovery, dissemination, and application of the scientific principles of psychology by facilitating academic programming, scholarship, and professional engagement both within the University and the community at large. This 9-month appointment, based on-campus in the scenic Upper Peninsula of Michigan, will join a robust faculty and a student body eager to learn. We seek candidates with expertise and research interests in topics related to clinical psychology, a history of effective instruction, and interest in developing opportunities for students seeking practicum experience. In particular, we seek an applicant who will engage in scholarly research related to their area of interest, who is currently or can be a fully Licensed Psychologist, and who will help shape our master’s level curriculum to meet Michigan and National credentialing standards. The Department maintains active psychology laboratories, with dedicated research space for each faculty member. Faculty members receive annual funds for travel and research, access to dedicated grants and research offices, and a comprehensive benefits package. The university provides various internal grants that faculty members can apply for to secure additional research funds or reduce their teaching workload. Reduced teaching loads and summer salary may also be supported through external funding. Minimum Qualifications Required Education:Doctorate or equivalent terminal degree Discipline / Degree Area:Psychology or closed related field. Required Specialized Training/Certifications:Must be qualified to receive a Psychologist License in the State of Michigan. Required Minimum Work Experience: Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Attributes Required for Satisfactory Performance of the Position Duties:Ability to develop and teach psychology courses Ability to advise students about the academic program and careers in psychology.
