Assistant Program Coordinator/Special Operations Training

The Department of Fire Services (DFS) is recruiting to fill the position of Special Operations Assistant Program Coordinator responsible for training. This is a part-time, contract position with no benefits.

Duties

Serves in an administrative capacity to support the program coordinator and oversees the successful daily operation of assigned unitCreates new training based on call trends, new technology or emerging threatsActively works with technical experts to gain the knowledge needed to develop training contentValidates all training content with the Special Operations leadershipSchedules all required training for the team Tracks all Special Operations members training statisticsActively participates in Special Operations staff meetingsRecommends purchase of software or hardware to sustain the Special Operations groupAssists with the creation of annual operating and capital budgetingMay be assigned additional projects by Special Operations Program Coordinator or Deputy Director

Minimum Qualifications:

High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED)

Four years’ experience as a DFS employee, a firefighter, a MA Hazardous Materials Technician, or in a fire prevention or fire service leadership position.

Specialty Requirements:

Must have a minimum of five years of relevant fire service or emergency service industry experience such as a dispatcher, EMT, paramedic, fire officer, fire investigator, training officer, or fire prevention positionFire Instructor I trainedMust have thorough knowledge of Massachusetts Special Operations equipment and team operation

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge with some form of learning management software Superior interpersonal skillsAbility to use Microsoft Word, Excel and Power PointWell organized and a team player
