Duties and Responsibilities

As an Assistant Project Manager at Westwood, you will play a crucial role in steering complex engineering projects to success, from the initial concept through to completion. This position is not just about managing projects; it's about leading change, fostering a culture of innovation, and ensuring our projects set new standards in technical excellence and sustainability.

Manage and oversee a diverse range of water resources projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and exceed industry standards.Actively contribute to business growth by developing client relationships and contributing to business development activities while expanding Westwood's presence in the private and public sectors through quality work product.Mentor and cultivate engineering team members, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and professional excellence. Empower your team to innovate and solve complex engineering challengesDevelop project work plans and budget projections and effectively deploy resources.Work closely with other leaders within Westwood to align project goals with the company's strategic objectives. Represent the company in critical negotiations and partnerships, enhancing our reputation and impact in the industry.Design of public infrastructure work focused on Water Resources and Hydrology.Lead team in preparation of construction drawings, technical specifications, and contract documents.Lead team in preparation of engineering reports, feasibility studies, and utility evaluations.Lead team in preparation of various exhibits and design drawings using AutoCAD Civil3D & Bluebeam.Coordination with agency staff and internal support teams on designs, analysis, and issues.Lead team in preparation of construction drawings using AutoCAD Civil3D including grading plans; plan and profiles; construction details; storm drain, water and sewer facilities; signage and striping plans, etc.  Required Skills Outgoing, friendly, approachable (team player)Leader, culture builder, and innovatorStrong communication skills with team members and clients, demonstrates active listening techniques
Competent technical skills required to complete engineering tasks
Able to pro-actively pursue design solutions
Ability to be open to other's ideas and willing to compromise
Detail-oriented but also flexible enough to be big picture/conceptual
Able to compromise and accept other’s ideas
Good reputation among peers, clients, and agenciesExceptional communicators with proficiency in HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, ArcPro, CAD (Civil3D or MicroStation), and familiarity with 2D Analysis (RAS 2D, XPSTRM, ICM), capable of leading teams and engaging with clients and stakeholders effectively. Required Experience Professionals with 3-7+ years of experience in water resources engineering, demonstrating expertise in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, drainage facility design, and project management.Licensed Professional Civil Engineers in Texas, or candidates who can achieve licenser within 6 months, showcasing a commitment to professional growth and excellence.
