Assistant R&D Manager- Pilot Plant

Business Context and Main Purpose of the Job

The R&D centre of Foods in Shanghai is responsible for product & process developing and  deploying for Unilever Food Solutions and Foods Retail business of North Asia region.

This individual will be responsible for Foods Pilot Plant management including PP trial arrangements, raw material stock management, commercial product production at a small volume, and also necessarily input for process community/pilot plant activities from U66 site or from Foods North Asia.

Main Accountabilities:

Key accountabilities is managing pilot plant to support product development team for trials and small-volume-product manufacturing for related portfolios 

Detailed as below:  

•    E2E manage SC licence manufacturing (planning, inventory lot, making, quality control, engineering, safety and etc.) with functional partners (SC, finance, MKT)
•    Daily management of pilot plant (inventory lot, equipment maintain, experiment planning, safety related, CAPEX management)
•    Use LIMS/PLM to set up and manage RM inventory/Sampling/Formulation/Processing/Product Stability database
•    Design/lead trial in pilot plant, support/lead the process development for new products
•    Provide technical expertise to support project team trouble shooting
•    Eusure quality delivery during project
•    Support government audit and related activities
 

Critical success Factors for the Job

Key Skills

•  Master or Bachelor’s Degree in Foods Science/Chemical Sciences/Engineering
•    E2E skill for manufacturing management
•    Process or equipment engineering knowledge in Foods&Beverage or FMCG industry
•    Strong ownership and ability to fast-learning
•    Ability to manage and coordinate multiple tasks
•    Good team player and communication in English 

Relevant Experience:

Essential: 
•    Master or Bachelor with 2-3 years related experience on manufacturing management or process development
•    Rich experience on food RMs functionality, recipe design and food safety is preferred;
•    Basic understand on project management is preferred.
