Responsibilities*The key responsibilities of the Assistant Research Scientist (ARS) position include supporting the technology development program related to the integration of an electric propulsion system and chemical propulsion operating on a single energetic propellant. The ARS will also have responsibilities for laboratory management and organization. Key responsibilities include:
Advising undergraduate and doctoral students (20%),including:
Initiating and overseeing undergraduate student project teamsHeading working groups of undergraduate and doctoral studentsCoordinating laboratory safety, management, and maintenance (25%), including:
Implementation of safety protocols for the use of energetic propellants in the laboratory spaceSupporting the construction and upkeep of the new alternative propellant test facilityExploring facility mitigation efforts to support hi-power electric propulsion testingPreparing professional presentation and publications (15%)
Coordinating laboratory compliance with CUI and Secret level restrictions (20%)
Building a research portfolio including applying and running research programs related to plasmadynamics, in-space propulsion, and inference/estimation/learning (20%)
A doctoral degree in Aerospace Engineering and 4 to 5 years of related experience.
