Typical field services will include Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, Phase II/Limited Subsurface Investigations, ecological and natural resource field surveys, tank removal and closure assessments, asbestos inspections, asbestos abatement monitoring and oversight, and stormwater management/sampling. Additionally, this position will be responsible for drafting and developing reports related to the field services that are conducted, including the preparation of site-specific health and safety plans, reviewing laboratory data and preparing data tables, drafting correspondence for information to various local, state, and federal agencies, permit applications, and other technical documents. In this role, you will work under the Environmental Group Manager to execute the above-referenced aspects of environmental projects in the Bettendorf office and will provide support to surrounding Terracon offices, including surrounding states. You will learn how to manage both your field time and office/reporting time effectively to ensure that work is completed by established deadlines, within proposed budgets, and in accordance with client requirements and Terracon company policies, procedures, and standards. In conjunction with the field service roles and responsibilities, additional daily job duties and requirements will generally include client communication for conducting interviews and confirming schedules for fieldwork, packaging samples for shipment to various laboratories, completion of laboratory chain-of-custody forms, and communication/coordination with select external vendors, contractors, and subcontractors. This position will also give you the opportunity to grow and enhance your level of understanding by participating in more complex meetings and conversations that are led by Terracon Project Managers, Senior Project Managers, and other team leads. **Essential Roles and Responsibilities:** + Follow safety rules, guidelines, and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management. + May assist more senior scientists/engineers on large, more complex projects. + Performs site visits, field observations, and field data collection or assignments. + Operate and maintain field monitoring equipment. Maintain chain of custody in sample submission to appropriate laboratories for analysis. + Work with senior staff to set priorities regarding workload and assigned tasks, coordinate services to meet project milestones, and provide project deliverables on time and within established budgets. + Evaluates routine laboratory and field data and assembles written reports and tables. + Work with senior staff and Authorized Project Reviewers to make necessary edits and changes to reports prior to submittal to clients. **Requirements:** + Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or related science field, or in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 3 years related experience. + Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history. + Ability to obtain Iowa asbestos inspector license within 12 months of hire. + This position requires the employee to work flexible hours and occasional weekends and on-call work. Occasional overnight travel may also be required. + The employee must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds for short distances and assist in team lift-and-carry up to 100 pounds for short distances. + This position requires the employee to work in a variety of environmental conditions including humid, hot, damp, and cold weather conditions.
