Job Title: Assistant Scientist Job Description The Assistant Scientist performs processing and analysis of environmental samples for the presence of potential biological threat agents. This role involves sample in-processing, DNA preparation, immunoassay and PCR analysis, data entry into laboratory information management systems, and general laboratory housekeeping duties. Responsibilities + Process and analyze environmental samples for potential biological threat agents. + Assist with sample in-processing, DNA preparation, immunoassay and PCR analysis. + Enter data into laboratory information management systems and sample management systems. + Maintain general laboratory housekeeping duties. Essential Skills + Laboratory experience in Biology, GMP, Microbiology, PCR, and QPCR. + Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance. + Science Degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, or Biochemistry. + Proficiency in DNA preparation, immunoassay and PCR analysis, and data entry. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Knowledge and/or experience in a laboratory environment. + Basic laboratory and analytical skills. + PC skills and ability to learn new software and systems. + Effective communication and interaction with technical staff at all levels in a team-based environment. + Ability to work independently. + Detail-oriented. Work Environment The position requires working Sunday – Thursday, 2:00pm-11:00pm with a 6% differential. The schedule is subject to change based on client needs. Initial training will occur during the 1st shift in Gaithersburg, MD. The work location is at the Pentagon.
