Job Title: Assistant Scientist

Job Description

The Assistant Scientist performs processing and analysis of environmental samples for the presence of potential biological threat agents. This role involves sample in-processing, DNA preparation, immunoassay and PCR analysis, data entry into laboratory information management systems, and general laboratory housekeeping duties.

ResponsibilitiesProcess and analyze environmental samples for potential biological threat agents.Assist with sample in-processing, DNA preparation, immunoassay and PCR analysis.Enter data into laboratory information management systems and sample management systems.Maintain general laboratory housekeeping duties.Essential SkillsLaboratory experience in Biology, GMP, Microbiology, PCR, and QPCR.Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.Science Degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, or Biochemistry.Proficiency in DNA preparation, immunoassay and PCR analysis, and data entry.Additional Skills & QualificationsKnowledge and/or experience in a laboratory environment.Basic laboratory and analytical skills.PC skills and ability to learn new software and systems.Effective communication and interaction with technical staff at all levels in a team-based environment.Ability to work independently.Detail-oriented.Work Environment

The position requires working Sunday – Thursday, 2:00pm-11:00pm with a 6% differential. The schedule is subject to change based on client needs. Initial training will occur during the 1st shift in Gaithersburg, MD. The work location is at the Pentagon. Availability to assist with holiday work may be required

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00
